For locally-hosted autoresponders, the price will increase with the number of domains or copies where the software can be installed on, or with some more advanced features.

For desktop-hosted autoresponders, the price will increase with the number of copies which you are allowed to run simultaneously, or with some more advanced features.

Remotely-hosted autoresponders are usually charged a monthly fee, while locally and desktop hosted ones are charged an upfront fee.

Remote autoresponders usually provide an ad supported free membership, while local and desktop ones may give out free trial or lite versions of their programs.

The length of refund period can vary from weeks to months for different autoresponders.

Other issues to consider are: length of duration you can get free updates, quality of technical support and whether they provide free installation (for locally and desktop hosted autoresponders).
